Why make it visible?

Some things are easier to understand when you can see the wire being moved, the trace doing something odd, and the person operating the equipment becoming quietly suspicious of it.

What are we trying to find out?

The question comes before the shopping list, although the shopping list can arrive remarkably quickly afterwards. What happens if I try it, and how far out of hand will the answer get?

Show the important bits

The scribble, the escalation, the build, the tweaks, and whatever outcome turned up at the end.

Keep the wobbly bits in

False starts, noisy traces, and unexpected behaviour are not deleted for looking untidy. They are usually where the thing starts telling you what it is really doing.
